 Well Back to the Apocalypse

STILL, working on materials for a post apocalyptic game, whether its Fallout Wasteland Warfare, Fallout 2d20 RPG or something else ( possibly from First Command Wargames). In the post nuclear war of the Fallout universe they use debris to block streets, alleys and entrances to buildings. I tried my hand at some about a year ago and threw them out as they didn't match what I wanted. Looking back that was a stupid waste of, no they didn't look like a scene from Fallout 3 or as I imagined them. but, they were good enough and with a little more work would have been fine.

On of my faults when it comes to crafting is the artistic part, I get locked in on what I imagine and if I fall short it isn't good enough, And I have dozens of projects either disposed of or still sitting unfinished because of this. But after talking to Tim Peaslee at a convention, he made a comment that got me to thinking about what our hobby is about. It's not perfection, its wargaming and gaming in general. If we can use our imaginations to play the games then the imaginations are good enough to picture a post apocalyptic world as we present it.

So I pulled out my foam and started over, the First two pieces I worked on were for the base of a building. I had gone to the Origins game day at the Ohio State Fairgrounds this winter and picked up a semifinished building, I think it is built from some Warhammer kit. well It needed more to fit into my world. As the pictures below show it is just a building on a wooden base. It needed more. So cut some foam to fit along the base and not cover the openings for doors and started looking at what I had to work with. Bag of aquarium gravel, some Acheson pieces, broken pieces of this and that and leftovers from MDF models, basically whatever I had laying around.

I wanted something more formidable that used the base. I can use the building minus the base if needed but I think I like it better on the wood base. Two things that are not done at this point are the front door, the small end piece by the door and the side entrance. These aren't finished as I can/t decide how I want them to look. As of right now I think I may cut the original I got to fit flusk with base and do two small pieces one that just covers the entrance totally and a second to angle into the door. As for the side entrance, probably just a regular door. We'll see what I come up with later. Below are the building with the two pieces beginning pieces.

Next post will be of my street debris, or the stuff that got in the way of finishing the first building.
